Northlands Live

We will be providing audio support again this year for Northlands (formerly Drive In Live).

Last year we had the privilege of providing audio for the Drive In Live concert series, one of the few drive in concert experiences in New England. Providing sound for a massive field of cars with speakers, delay speaker towers and FM radio had its share of challenges.

This year Northlands is moving to a ‘pod’ setup, which means that people will be in their own designated space and cars will no longer be in the listening area. As we move back to more traditional concert experiences one has to wonder what the last year will do to change the landscape of concerts and large events. Many people found the ability to setup and tailgate with all their comforts only an arm length away quite enjoyable.

Some of the sonic challenges we face this year will be newly put in place decibel restrictions, different coverage area and higher artist demands. We will once again be deploying our Martin-Audio WPM system, which will have a higher box count per hang this year. We will also be tripling the subwoofer count for deeper low end response with a much more even coverage in the listening area.

It will be another great summer on the fairgrounds and it is sure to be a unique concert experience that again makes you wonder, is this the future of concerts? Are the days of squeezing together, waiting on the crowd barrier all day gone?
